The Changeover Ceremony organised by the Rotary Club Jorat on 20 June 2026 at the Théâtre du Jorat in Mézières provided a memorable and inspiring start to our new Rotary year.

From the very first moments, a special atmosphere could be felt. Open, warm and welcoming. Everyone immediately felt among friends. The RC Jorat demonstrated that lasting impact is not created solely through the projects we undertake. It is born from the way we welcome others, nurture friendships, pass on our values and inspire people to become part of Rotary. This is the true meaning of our RI President Olayinka H. Babalola’s theme: Create Lasting Impact.

The venue itself beautifully reflected this message. For more than a century, the Théâtre du Jorat has preserved its heritage while continually embracing the future. It stands as a reminder that respecting our traditions and remaining open to innovation are not opposing ideas, but complementary strengths. Rotary follows the same path, honouring its values while evolving to meet the needs of tomorrow.

A light hearted appearance by the “Brigands du Jorat”, who playfully "captured" outgoing District Governor Jouni Heinonen and incoming District Governor René Loretan before subjecting them to the traditional Test de Contrefeu, added humour and local character to the celebration. Moments like these strengthen friendships, celebrate local traditions and create memories that last.

To me, this is what lasting impact is all about. Preserving our roots, embracing new ideas and inspiring people to build a better future together.

My sincere thanks to the Rotary Club Jorat for hosting such a warm, meaningful and inspiring Changeover Ceremony.
